Pizol hiking route

The five lakes hiking route on the north side of Mt Pizol is one of the classical prealpine hiking trails in Switzerland. The Pizol region can be reached within a short time from Zurich, Winterthur and St. Gallen and is ideal for a one day's hike in the Swiss mountains.

Five Lakes Hiking Route Description

Starting point:	Wangs-Furt
> go by train: timetables	Hourly Interregio trains Zurich - Sargans - Chur. Change to postbus for Wangs Pizolbahn (-Vilters) at Sargans Please note that Intercity trains will not stop in Sargans. 4 section cableway will bring you up to Pizolhütte (ask for special ticket "5-Seen-Wanderung") Those who like may start after 3 sections at Gaffia already and go uphill (1 hour)
Classification:	Mountain hiking trail
Degree of difficulty:	Advanced, but still suitable for families (red-white-red markings)
Duration:	4½ hours for Pizolhütte - 5 Lakes - Gaffia (without stops)
Inclination	uphill: 520 m, downhill: 900 m
Season:	Mid July to mid October
Route and intermediate stops:	Terminal station Pizolhütte 2224 m - Wildseeluggen 2493 m (1 hour) - Schottensee 2335 m (30 min) - Schwarzplangg 2505 m (40 min) - Schwarzsee 2368 m (20 min) - Rossstall 2456 m (30 min) - Baschalvasee 2174 m (40 min) - Gaffia 1861 m (50 min)
